Matt Brauer, PhD

Data Science Consultant

Third Rock Ventures

Matt Brauer joined Third Rock from Genentech, where he was a senior scientist and director of data science, and where he co-led Roche’s clinical genetics program. In that role he was responsible for managing, processing and analyzing large and complex genomics datasets from across the global organization. He also led the effort to develop and deploy analytic tools that would allow R&D scientists to more rapidly and effectively explore their own data.

Prior to Genentech Matt worked with David Botstein at Stanford and as a research fellow at Princeton’s Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics. In these positions he applied new technologies for understanding the genetics of metabolic pathways in yeast.

Matt is currently helping to build and launch the data science group of a new TRV company that will develop therapeutics based on insights derived from genetic modifier studies.
